rewatched the first ep of cloho and i just can’t stop thinking about the original zephyrites’ relationship with marya. did daisuke see her as a mentee? did he and comfrey ever get into arguments about her? when did van decide that they were gonna be pals? did monty ever teach her how to draw, and was he delighted to see her use those skills not for masterpieces of beauty or to capture nature but for masterpieces of technology and clean schematics? did anyone ever ask comfrey why this child was their pilot, talented and skilled as she was? did anyone worry for her? was marya homesick, that first night? did she sleep at the foot of comfrey’s bed, then? did she want to prove herself? to make them proud? did she know how proud she made them? does she know how proud she still makes them?
It gets quite lonely on the ship sometimes. Everyone is off on their own or split into pairs. Even Wealwell is in some dark corner of the Zephyr, practicing his stances…sometimes I miss the late nights away at Revington. The heady rush of sweat and iron and chalk dust, the scabs on my knuckles a constant reminder for days after. The fighting here has left those intact, at least.
